In March and April, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Palestine and Bangladesh will publish current gender statistics. This is the result of a Swedish development aid venture, in which Statistics Sweden has trained and provided support to statisticians and users of statistics during one year.

Trade in services is spurring growth in Africa as it becomes more advanced and specialised. Now, as the Global Goals are to be implemented, there is great potential for Swedish solutions in water purification, environmental technology and sanitation.

Women’s organisations in the Great Lakes region are calling for change. Women have systematically been neglected and denied access to peace negotiations, security conferences, reform programmes, and high level panels where their own future is being discussed. This needs to change.
