Influencers, activists and democracy in Oslo

The Embassy in Oslo gathered close to one hundred young people from Sweden, Norway and Denmark to discuss democracy, participation and inclusion. Over the course of two days, politicians, artists, activists, teachers and influencers took part in engaging workshops and debates with young people. Some of the important issues raised included how activism can be used as a tool in a democratic society and how democratic social media really are.

The project was a collaboration between the Swedish Embassy in Oslo, Voksenåsen, Fryshuset in Sweden and Norway’s Forandringshuset (sister organisation to Fryshuset). The initiative inspired a good level of involvement and engagement among the participants. Skilled workshop leaders also helped the initiative become such a success. There are now plans to follow up the project with a smaller event in the autumn.
